Do you have a regular business practice that helps you reconnect with kindness?
When I talk about business practice, I mean it in the same way you have a meditation practice, a yoga practice, or a spiritual practice. You are a soulful entrepreneur and your business is an extension of you.
Therefore, creating your own business practice is a great way to stay connected (or reconnect) and harness the kindness inside. You will feel more fulfilled in your business AND it will keep you in a high vibration to attract your perfect fit clients.
IT'S HUMAN NATURE
You know that being kind is the better option, that being understanding, generous, and sympathetic is the gold standard of human behavior. But it’s also human to find that difficult at times. If you’ve had a hard day or a disappointment, if someone cut you off or pushed in front of you in the coffee queue, it’s human nature to be irritated.
Those negative emotions feel bad and can become your habitual response.
That feels miserable.
However, there is a quick and easy meditation practice you can use to help you become more patient, accepting and kind. Meditating using the Buddhist lovingkindness meditation can switch up your patterns of acting and reacting to a whole new calmer and more positive level.
BUDDHIST LOVINGKINDNESS MEDITATION
A Loved One
"May you be happy. May you be healthy. May you be safe. May you be at ease’."
Repeat these phrases three times. When you’re done, sit quietly and feel the effect of the practice so far. Do this after each step of the meditation.
Self
"May you be happy. May you be healthy. May you be safe. May you be at ease’."
Repeat and rest.
Acquaintance
"May you be happy. May you be healthy. May you be safe. May you be at ease’."
Repeat and rest.
Challenging Relationship
"May you be happy. May you be healthy. May you be safe. May you be at ease’."
Repeat and rest.
RECONNECT WITH KINDNESS PRACTICE REGULARLY
Regular practice of this meditation will make you feel calmer, more accepting, and kinder towards yourself and the people in your life, even the difficult ones!
The more you do it, the more you will replace the old negative thought patterns and reactions with positive, kinder ones.
It’s a simple yet powerful way to reconnect with kindness in your life AND in business.
When you're ready to deepen this meditation practice, there are more in-depth instructions taken from No Mud, No Lotus: The Art of Transforming Suffering, by Thich Nhat Hanh © 2014 Parallax Press in the article here.
